HTK is an NGO that works with over 50 projects in Kenya supporting some 500 artisans. One such group specializes in creating home décor items from recycled materials. Their beautiful bowls and trays incorporate environmentally sustainable wood, stained and then decorated with batik bone from animal by-products, “upcycled” aluminum pieces that used to be old pans, and recycled wire. The revenues generated from sales support the HT Educational Fund, enabling the children of artisans to attend secondary school and young adults to receive vocational training. more ▶
